Money may not be a thing to music mogul Jermaine Dupri on record, but SunTrust Banks feels otherwise. According to the "Atlanta Journal Constitution," the bank is suing J.D. and his So So Def Productions for $1.9 million over an unpaid loan.
Apparently, Dupri took out a $4.9 million loan in 2010, putting up copyrighted music and property as collateral. At one point, the rapper was reportedly even planning to sell some of the songs to repay the debt. But that agreement with the bank fell through. Court documents show Dupri originally took out the loan to help pay off income tax and other liabilities.
This is not the first time Jermaine Dupri has faced financial hardship. Earlier this year the rapper paid off a three-million dollar tax lien for unpaid taxes dating back to 2006. In the past year he has also faced foreclosure on his Atlanta house.
